Oban and Kilchurn castle

Continuing on our drive...

Adam spotted an old castle on the loch and and we made our way towards the water for a better look. We had a bit of a walk to get there and discovered some random sheep in the bushes! It was actually Kilchurn castle, built in 1450 and I was pleased to see that there was some info and some structural reassurance :) I do enjoy my safety when exploring!

Our next stop was the ocean side town of Oban, the seafood capital of Scotland! It was a beautiful little town with a lot of energy and movement. I'm always attracted to the beauty of the ocean and the lives people create around it. The rain didn't seem to deter anybody, places to go and people to see!

This is the Oban monument or McCraigs Tower. A circular structure of lancet arches built to employ the people during the winter months and as a lasting monument to the McCraig family. It was right above the city with beautiful gardens and a great view out over the city to the ocean.

We ate a seafood lunch (of course!) bought some Mrs. Bridges jam and chutney, a Bundaberg peachee to share, some cupcake sprinkles, oatcakes, and continued on our way....
